ARIA

The author's debut novella, fast, but dense, features a young woman reconciling with several ends, new unwanted beginnings and loss of hope. Torn between two loves, psychological duress, and a constant nagging crisis of personal identity, the reader is tossed into an emotional turmoil and the complexities surrounding the isolation of an author figure.

All the dust had settled quite nicely on the floor of the cottage until I walked in. I went straight to the desk, leaving enormous footprints on the way. I wondered who would write a eulogy for me as the context of my death would be so melancholic. Ought I to write my own obituary?

Aria is not an easy read, but it strikes you at the core.
